We have BIG DREAMS for the future

Where do we see ourselves in 5 years?

  • Expansion Project

We have been living and operating off our current land for may years now. And while we have loved every moment and the gifts it has given us, we are quickly growing, and therefore require more land. Our dreams is at least 160 acres, where the horses can graze and live as naturally as possible while they undergo their individual rehabilitation programs. A land filed with trees, trails, a beautiful creek and safe/reliable fencing.

A property where we can also grow our wolf and wildlife division. Where we can build large, safe enclosures for the animals to roam as free and natural as possible that will also allow for visitors and education groups to come, experience the animals, and learn all about their lives and their significance to our eco system.

Our expansion project will also include a warm, indoor barn and arena where we can continue our work with the horses as well as our therapeutic programs year round. Alberta’s weather can be harsh, and so somewhere where we can stay warm and dry as well as provide shelter and support for the horses that require more maintenance and care during extreme temperatures.

  • Truck & Horse Trailer

When we started our adventure with the rescue, we had access to a small horse trailer that stayed on our property year round. Unfortunately, it was sold a few years ago and since then we have had to rely on the kindness of our community, as well as rent vehicles and trailers, to haul our horses around on our behalf. The difficulty with our situation is that we are at the mercy of other peoples’ availability and schedules as well as the funds in our bank account to cover the extra cost of rentals and sometimes, in an emergency situation, time is of the essence.

Being able to purchase our own reliable truck as well as a large enough stock trailer would give us the freedom and ability to transport our horses whenever needed, no matter their level of hauling experience. Often the horses that come in to our care have never been trailered, and so we require the appropriate size and set up to free load and transport them safely to our sanctuary.

Having our own trailer on the property all the time would also allow us to work with our horses regularly on trailer training . As well as be accessible to the surrounding community that may need our help transporting.

  • Indoor Shelter

We don’t need anything fancy, but words cannot properly express how helpful it would be to our rehabilitation program to have an indoor working space with safe footing and reliable walls to work in. To be able to support our training plans year round with an area that would be covered and protected by the extreme Alberta weather’s would be life changing for us. As well as having the opportunity to continue our therapeutic programs with the Little Warriors organization on our property without having to cover the cost of renting another facility during the winter months would be wonderful.

An indoor space would also allow us an area to house some of our high maintenance horses during their injury and rehab process as well as desensitize them and get them use to working in and amongst different areas and obstacles. The abilities of what a space like this could give us are limitless!
