Eligibility
To be considered for adoption, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Have a stable and safe living environment for the horse, including access to adequate shelter, pasture, and fencing.
- Have prior experience with horses, or demonstrate a strong willingness and ability to learn through training or consultation with an experienced equine professional.
- Be financially capable of providing for the horse's veterinary care, feed, and other needs, including farrier services.
- Complete an adoption application and provide references (personal and veterinary, if applicable).
- Agree to home visits and follow-up checks after adoption.
- Be prepared for a long-term commitment to the horse’s care. Horses may live 20-30 years or longer

Application Process
- Complete and submit the adoption application form.
- Submit references for personal, veterinary, and/or equine experience (if applicable).
- Provide a photo, video and description of the intended environment (barn, pasture, etc.)
- The sanctuary will review the application and schedule an in-person visit to assess the suitability of the home.
- If the application is approved, the adopter will be asked to sign an adoption contract that outlines the responsibilities and requirements of horse care

Adoption Contract & Post-Adoption Follow-Up
Upon approval, adopters will sign a formal adoption agreement that:
- Confirms the horse's ownership is transferred to the adopter.
- Requires the adopter to provide regular veterinary care, feed, and shelter.
- Prohibits the sale, trade, or transfer of the horse without prior approval from the sanctuary.
- Ensures the horse is not to be used for commercial purposes, such as racing or breeding.
- Allows the sanctuary the right to reclaim the horse if it is found in unsuitable conditions or if the terms of the adoption contract are violated.
- The sanctuary will conduct follow-up checks at regular intervals during the first year after adoption. This may include site visits and/or phone check-ins to ensure the horse’s continued well-being and to offer support as needed
