YouTube Channel Launch!
I love what I do on a daily basis.
Despite the challenges. The obstacles. The financial struggles. The emotional pain and the mental exhaustion. Despite the heartache and the anger. The sadness and the despair at times. I wouldn't want to spend a moment of my life without horses.
But over this last year and a half I've really struggled to fill my energetic cup. And I think my board and team of volunteers would agree that things were no longer feeling in alignment for our organization. Something was missing. We were veering off track somehow. And whether it was because we were taking unintentional side-steps or because our vision needed to be re-evaluated, it was just obvious to our team that something needed to shift. We were exhausted and the problems were only getting worse.
I've said it before and I'll say it as many times as I need to - My goal in life is that one day our organization will be IRRELEVANT. Our services will no longer be needed. But I firmly believe that in order to make that happen, we need to take a look further upstream to understand WHY and WHERE the problem is occurring. Texas was life-changing for me because I feel as though I had finally found one of the missing pieces to the puzzle of that question. Education!
We are currently experiencing an epidemic. Whether you want to admit it or not, that’s the truth. But it isn’t a ‘Horse Problem’. It’s a People Problem. It comes down to a complete lack of education surrounding ethics, connection, and responsible ownership. Horses were not intended to be what we have made them to be. They didn’t choose this, they were forced into it. And so the reality of that relationship is that it is then OUR responsibility to uphold a connection with them far beyond what has become the norm. We have taken these incredibly powerful and magical beings, forcibly molded them into what we want, and then we have the audacity to believe THEY owe US just for keeping them alive? None of that sentence makes any sense to me, yet for many, it’s the truth.
And so here we are … spinning around and around in the same circle we have for far too long. And so how do we finally get off the hamster wheel of insanity and start doing things differently? Through open and honest communication and education.
Patrick & Avery Sullivan have proven time and time again, via working with the most difficult and challenging horses, that true, genuine partnership is the foundation to everything. It IS the answer. The only one. Because by building that foundational relationship with your horse, your horse ends up teaching you far more than you could ever teach it. Liberty brings you back to the truth of what a genuine, unconditional relationship with another sentient being actually is. It shows you what genuine unconditional love and trust feel like. What selflessness feels like. What it means to put the wellbeing and love of another being ahead of your own.
Texas. Patrick. Avery. Stryker & Amir. Click & Clack. Ali. Duke. Leo. They all taught me so much. They all helped open up my eyes and re-ground me back into my body and my purpose. And I want to share all of that with the world.
I still have so much to learn. So many old habits to break down and rebuild back up. So much to practice. And as I experience all of that growing and shifting, I want to be as transparent as possible and share our journey with those who feel called to come along for the ride. Especially within the rescue industry, a community that can often come under fire for lack of transparency, I felt it was important to share as much as possible of our behind-the-scenes reality. And so I’m finally brave enough to announce that the rescue will be releasing a YouTube Channel where we will continue to post training videos, information videos, snippets and so much more in hopes of igniting, inspiring and connecting a like-minded community together for the sole purpose and passion of horses. Check it out HERE
And as always, we appreciate the love and support from our incredible followers and donors. We are so excited to see what this coming year continues to bring our horses and our organization.
